In the election, Saber secured 169 votes and his nearest contender
Australia Bronwyn Bishop got 95 votes. Saber Hossain is the first Bangladeshi to win the IPU post.
Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) Md Fazlee Rabbi Mia, Chief Whip ASM Feroz, JS Whips Md Atiur Rahman Atique, Md Shahab Uddin and Mahbub Ara Begum Gini, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Ministry Dr Dipu Moni, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md Jahid Ahsan Russel, Sanjida Khanam, MP, greeted him at Hazrat Shahjalal (R )International Airport.
