DHAKA, Nov 4, 2014 -Bangladesh Bridges Authority yesterday signed a contract to appoint a consultant firm for supervision of the construction work of the main Padma Bridge and river training at a cost of Tk 383.15 crore.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader witnessed the agreement signing ceremony as the chief guest at the Bridge Bhaban in the city.BSS


According to the contract, Team Leader (Overseas Project Division) of Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC) Cho, Nam-Min and M Shafiqul Islam, project director of Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

Cho, Nam-Min led six companies based in Korea.

Korean Ambassador in Dhaka Lee Yun-Young, Bridge Division Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam, chief engineer of Bangladesh Bridges Authority Kabir Ahmed, chief of local technical evaluation committee Dr Jamilur Reza Chowdhury and officials concerned were present during the contract signing ceremony.

According to the project, the overall implementation of the project is 22 percent, while 15 per cent implemented of its infrastructure. The contract duration has been fixed at five years.
